The engineering exams will get over this month-end and it’s masti time for these budding engineers. The students have already started chalking out plans for their month-long vacation.

A group of ten students of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering have decided not to waste a day of their vacations. Apart from planning a week-long trip to Gokarna, these students have decided to house-party every alternate day and also have night-outs at nearby places like the Nandi Hills.

Najam Hassan, an industrial engineering and management student, says, “During our previous vacations, we never planned any outings. Our plans used to be spontaneous, such as catching up with an old friend, going for a movie or a visit to a new location.”

This time, however, will be different. “We can’t let our vacation go waste. For this, we will arrange house parties. Because of this, some spontaneous plans such as going for long rides or watching movies might come up,” informs Najam.

The excitement of the group members is at its peak. They say they can’t wait for their exams to get over to have the time of their lives. Anand Naik, another student, says that he is looking forward to a banana-boat ride in Gokarna.

“All of us have never been there before and are particularly excited about this trip. I’ve heard that Gokarna has few tourist spots to enjoy. The first thing I will do there is take a ride on a steamboat or banana boat,” says Anand.

He adds, “After this semester, we will enter our final year. We might not get this chance again as we will have our own commitments. So, this trip is going to be a special one.”

In order to fund these plans, the students have decided to take up internships, which they will start immediately after their trip to Gokarna.

Another task they’ve had to face is convincing their parents to let them go. Imran Khan, a student, says that it took a lot of convincing. “Now, my parents are entirely fine with the outing.

Earlier they used to ask why I wanted to go. But now they know that I did not get much time to spend with my friends because of studies, and with a bit of convincing, they finally agreed to let me go,” says Imran.

Another student, Megha B S, says that her parents have already given her permission to go. “All the group members are close friends of mine. So, my parents were fine with the plan.

It is going to be a real stress-buster. I’m excited and looking forward to it,” she says. With all this planning and excitement, this is surely going to be a memorable vacation.
