Kidnap drama in true filmi-style

Public chase gang of four, beat them up, hand over to police, rescue driver

The action sequence took place in Soladevanahalli police station limits on Monday.
Dinesh Babu, a businessman assigned a job to his driver Arjun to withdraw cash from SBI Peenya branch.

On his way back, a gang of four in two two-wheelers stopped the car near Hesarghatta 8th mile and picked up an argument with the driver. Out of the blue, one of them took out a knife and threatened Arjun to sit quietly in the back seat while another snatched the ignition key and took control of the wheel. Mid way, they harassed and injured Arjun to hand over the cash.

Climax

At this juncture, while the car was passing Sapthagiri College, the vehicle hit a few two-wheelers. The students lost their cool as the cruising car failed to stop. The angry students started chasing the car. Meanwhile, another group of students called up the police.

While a hot chase was on, the car driver lost control on seeing a truck coming in the opposite direction and banged into a roadside tree near Taramanahalli. The car toppled and came to a standstill. 

A few construction workers rushed to rescue the accident victims but were shocked to see three youths running for cover. By that time, the students who followed also joined the workers and nabbed the gang.

The police said, Venkatesh, Ramesh and Keshava have been arrested while another gang member managed to escape.

The gang members, in their mid-twenties, are habitual offenders and had recently come out of jail.
