He was at a function organised by the Karnataka Electricity Board Engineers’ Association to confer Sir MV Award for Excellence in Karnataka Power Sector to HR Gopal, former KERC member and former technical member of the Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB), and YR Nagaraja, retired executive engineer of the KEB.

He sought the Opposition’s help in overcoming the power crisis while observing that people with vested interests were exaggerating the problem in rural areas.

He cited example of a local leader of a village who had claimed that hundreds of transformers in his village had burst. On cross checking there were only 19 transformers in the village and only a few of them were damaged.

The minister asked the engineers of his department to take any criticism or suggestions in a positive way so as to achieve 24 hour power supply across the state.
