BAC swimmers emerge champs

Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre swimmers set the pool ablaze, retaining the Junior and Sub-junior overall crowns in the State aquatic championships at the Davan Swimming Centre here on Thursday.

BAC totalled a whooping 996 points to claim the Junior title while they garnered 424 points to emerge champions in the Sub-junior category. Likith SP took home his fifth gold medal by clinching the boys Group II 200M breaststroke with a national record time and 50M freestyle titles on the final day. Likith, who won the best swimmer award in his group, clocked 2:30.58, erasing the four-year-old meet mark of 2:39.91. The BAC swimmer went under the national record of 2:33.61.
