A man was stabbed to death and another injured after a heated argument between three friends at Safdarjung Enclave in south Delhi, police said on Thursday.

Dinesh, 22, hailed from Bihar and worked as a cook for the past two years at a Allahabad High Court judge’s residence in Safdarjung Enclave block A. He was drinking alcohol with Madan Gopal and Shravan, who also work as domestic helps in the same building, when the incident took place around 10 pm on Wednesday.

“We had received a call at the police control room that two men were lying in a pool of blood at the terrace of a building. A police team rushed to the spot and found Dinesh and Shravan with stab wounds,” a police official said.

They were rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre, where Dinesh was declared brought dead upon arrival.

“Dinesh died due to extensive bleeding after being stabbed thrice. Shravan is undergoing treatment for four stab wounds. His condition is critical,” the official added.

An initial probe has revealed that Madan, who hails from Jharkhand’s Giridih district and works as a domestic help at a businessman’s residence, had stabbed Dinesh and Shravan under the influence of alcohol after a heated argument. He is absconding.

A case of murder and attempt to murder has been lodged against him at Safdarjung Enclave police station. It is suspected that Dinesh, Madan and Shravan had a consensual homosexual relationship.
