AIEEE is a gateway for students to get admission at various engineering and architecture colleges across the country and is conducted by the CBSE. “It’s heartening to know that a boy from a government school topped the exam. A week ago, we had class 12 topper from Manipur. These are welcome signs for school education in India,” CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi said.

Of around 11 lakh candidates attempted the exam, 4.1 lakh crossed the cut-off mark and are eligible for the next phase of online counselling.

“Despite being sick due to dengue in class 11 which took away my preparation time, I made it a point to cover the portion gradually,” said Mansi who want to pursue mechanical engineering. Anant Gupta, a resident of Rajpura, Punjab bagged the second position by scoring 340 out of 360 marks.
He, passed from Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, Chandigarh, got seventh rank in IIT JEE. “It was difficult to manage my study schedule. I used to get quite tired travelling and there were times I felt that I should leave my coaching but now I am glad that I did not step back,” said Gupta.
