Two ETT students raped on J-K highway, accused held

 The incident happened yesterday night when the girls took a lift in a car from Gurdaspur, Punjab to reach their Elementary Teachers Training (ETT) college in Jammu.

The driver of the vehicle Kulwant Singh and his accomplice Surjeet then diverted the car towards Birpur area on the pretext of meeting a relative.

They took the girls to an isolated area and allegedly raped the girls. The duo was later joined by a group of six local men, two of whom allegedly raped the girls.

The girls reached their college today morning and lodged a complaint with the police. The police acted swiftly and arrested Kulwant and Surjeet while a hunt has also been started for the six locals. A medical test of the girls was also conducted and a report is awaited.
