AICC slams Diggy for Mamata slur

 In a clear snub to AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh for his remarks against TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, Congress today said that he was ''not officially authorised'' to speak to the media.

“Digvijay Singh is not officially authorised to speak on behalf of the party,” said a AICC release. Responding to a volley of questions on the issue, Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said: “AICC media department issues messages and statements on the party’s direction.”

The Congress, which is hoping to take the mercurial West Bengal chief minister on board for the Presidential election, issued the statement after Singh, in an interview to a TV channel on Sunday, called Mamata “immature” and “erratic.”

However, Singh appeared undeterred and said: “Have I ever claimed that I am the official spokesperson of the party?”
