'Ranga Sambhrama' to highlight classical-based filmy songs

‘Ranga Sambhrama’, a musical evening has been organised by Dr Natashekar and troupe in association with Mysore Music Association at 5.30 pm on June 24 at Kalamandira.

Addressing a press meet here on Monday, president of the association M Lakshminarayan said the highlight of the programme would be classical filmy songs by Dr Natashekar and troupe of ‘Geeth Gaata Chal’ fame, who would perform for the first time for Mysore Music Association started in 1971.

Writer and theatre artiste Srikanta Gundappa said researches have proved music to be effective in curing many physical and mental ailments. Select Kannada and Hindi songs from movies of 1950, 60, 70 and 80s would be sung.

Dr Natashekar said entry would be free. H R Vasudha Shastry, Shreya K Bhat, Vaishnavi Dutt, Megha Chidambara would accompany Dr Natashekar for the event.

World music day

The Mysore chapter of Alliance Française de Bangalore, an Indo-French language and cultural centre, is observing world music day on June 21.

A music programme — solo songs, group songs and dance — would be organised at Subbalakshmi Hall, Mahajana Degree College, Jayalakshmipuram, at 6 pm on the day.
