Six held for chain snatching

The Subramanyapura police have arrested four persons of a family and two others for chain snatching and theft, and seized gold ornaments worth Rs 40 lakh.

Anwar, 49, his wife Najbunissa, 38, their children Imran alias Maddy, 24, and Irfan, 22, along with Mudabir, 22, and Imran alias Adi alias Motu Imran, 22, are the arrested.

The gang operated in Subramanyapura, Girinagar, Hulimavu, Jnanabharathi, KS Layout, Thalagattapura, Banashankari, CK Achukattu and Thyagarajnagar police limits.

They were allegedly involved in over 31 cases of chain snatching reported at Bangarpet, Ejipura, Krishnagiri and also in Kerala, the police said. Imran alone was wanted in about 40 cases of chain snatching in DJ Halli, KG Halli, Banaswadi, KR Puram, Pulakeshinagar, JB Nagar and other areas, the sources added.

Excise raids

The vigilance wing of the excise department conducted raids at two places near the Kanteerava Studio in Mahalakshmi Layout sub-division on Sunday afternoon and recovered 1,485 boxes of illicit liquor. Seven people have been arrested.

The department sleuths seized three trucks at the Devaraj Urs Truck Terminal opposite Kanteerava Studio for transporting the liquor without proper documents.

They seized 3,922 litres of foreign liquor, 1,625 litres of foreign wine and arrested six persons.

The team also raided a godown in the area and seized 6,126 litres of illicit liquor and 1,454 litres of illicit wine. One person was arrested.
