Three persons, including two juveniles, were arrested while trying to flee after robbing a house in Model Town in north-west Delhi on Monday.

Police said the three domestic help at the house aided them. They were arrested after an hour of the crime, while two persons are absconding.

Apart from the two juveniles, the accused have been identified as Suraj, Shatrughan and Arun.

Arun Kumar and two juveniles were arrested by the night checking staff of Mukherjee Nagar police station, said Tejinder Luthra, Joint Commissioner of Police (north).

House owner Suresh Kumar Gupta was not at home when the incident happened. One of his relatives who tried to resist the robbers also had to part with his watch, cash and some documents at knife-point.

Took house owner’s car

They left the house in Gupta's Honda Jazz car. They parked the car at GTB Nagar Metro station gate number 1, and divided the loot among themselves, after which Suraj and Shatrughan left for Bihar, police said.

The rest went to Mukherjee Nagar in an autorickshaw. At 5 am, head constable Virender and constables Manoj, Nisar and Amarnath saw an autorickshaw coming towards them. They asked the driver to stop, but he tried to flee.

Then the three occupants immediately got down from the vehicle and tried to run towards Gandhi Nagar. In the melee, one of the robbers threw a polythene bag at Manoj, which contained some house-breaking equipment.

Police in pursuit

However, Virender and Manoj managed to get hold of Arun, following which he threatened the cops with a knife before being overpowered. Amarnath and Nisar also overpowered the two juveniles.

Arun told police that he and Shatrughan had robbed a house in Model Town Block-E after conspiring with the domestic help — Suraj and the two juveniles.

"By this time the victim had reached Model Town police station and told police about the robbery," said Luthra.

Almost all the stolen items have been recovered. A team has been sent to Bihar to nab Suraj and Shatrughan, said Luthra.
