MUDA sites soon to be reality

Come July, the long pending demand of site aspirants would be fulfilled with Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) launching the process to distribute 3,099 sites.

Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda will be kicking-off the programme in the first week of July, by handing over the title deeds of the sites comprising Rabindanath Tagore Nagar, Lalitadri Nagar in the city, and Chamalapura in Nanjangud taluk.

Announcing this to media here on Wednesday, medical education and district in-charge minister S A Ramdas said apart from distributing the sites, slew of projects covering housing, health, Sakala among others will be taken up.

Housing policy

‘Swanta Soorina Ooru Mysooru’ (Place of own roof Mysore) another ambitious project under housing policy will be launched on July 21. Explaining its nitty-gritties, the minister said that the policy is an offspring of the survey of roofless people in the city. 

According to the survey there are 1.26 lakh houses. However not all are owned by the occupants with the survey showing 30,665 houseless people till May 25. Of them, 46 pc of people pay annual rent of Rs five to 10,000.

The number of people paying the rent of Rs 10,000 alone is at 80 pc.
The families falling under below poverty line (BPL) will be eligible for a subsidy of  Rs one lakh.

The banks will be extending loan with repayment period spread over 20 years.
Layouts

Another is that of 17 layouts majority developed by private parties being handed over to Mysore City Corporation (MCC) on June 29. Among the layouts three are developed by MUDA- they are- Dattagalli, Vijayanagar and Satagalli in different phases.

The pending works in these layouts will be completed within six months, with work order planned to be issued on July 2.
