Owing to the technical fault, the verification of documents of the students who are aspiring to enter into professional courses, went on till 1.15 am, on day one, at CET helpline Centre in NITK-Surathkal. The centre has been receiving good response with a large turn out.

On Tuesday, the centre was opened at 7 am instead of 8 am. In fact, about 50 students had arrived at 6 am and were seen waiting for the officials.

On day 1, the documents of 480 students were verified. Owing to incomplete documents, 48 students had to return. On Tuesday, the documents of 220 students were verified by 3 pm. The officials were planning to verify atleast 600 documents.

However, with the failure of internet connection, no docuemnts could be verified between 11.45 am and 12.30 pm. The official said that “the documents of students who have come from Uppinangady, Bantwal, Mani were verified first. The students are supporting the officials.”

KEA Cell Nodal Officer Suresh Thunga said that the officials had to face problems owing to technical glitches. We had to consider the students from backward classes whose annual income is more than Rs 3.50 lakh under general category.

However, it is not applicable to the students from SC/ST. The change in the category can be done by the officials in Bangalore. It was taking time to connect the officials from Bangalore.

Normally, it takes seven to 10 minutes to verify the documents which are in order. “However, it was taking more than 15 to 20 minutes to verify the documents which had loopholes.”

On day one, the last student whose document was verified was that of Rajath Kumar from Udupi, at 1.15 am. He had secured 1,812th rank in the CET.

As he along with his parents had come in own vehicle, they could take students from Hejamady, Mulki along with them in the vehicle.
