Arun Kumar and Sampath Kumar struck a goal apiece as Karnataka State Police (KSP) overwhelmed Controllerate of Inspection and Electronics (CIL) 2-0 in the BDFA Super Division league at the Bangalore Football stadium on Saturday.

With their second consecutive victory, KSP have 10 points from six matches while CIL suffered their fourth defeat to stay on six points from as many games. Arun Kumar netted in the first minute of added time of the first half and Sampath Kumar scored in the 72nd minute.

Both teams struggled to get going for a large part of the first session. It was unattractive football on display with mispasses and purposeless moves being the norm. Pradeep showed some spunk for CIL in the 33rd minute when he set off on a solo run through the right after a Kanika Raj pass but failed to strike past KSP custodian Nagendra.

Sampath, as always, played a pivotal role in the midfield for KSP but their forwards Kiran Kumar and Karthik M fell short time and again. But just when the game was heading for a goalless half, Arun made it 1-0 for KSP when he struck a powerful left-footer past CIL custodian Chand Pasha in the first minute of the added time. Sampath, finally, made up for the lapses when he slammed home the second goal off Arun’s pass from left in the 72nd minute.

CIL’s tries in the last 15 minutes didn’t bore fruits as KSP emerged winner.
Other result: ‘A’ Division: Bangalore Mars: 1 (Sarath 68th) drew with Southern Blues: 1 (Chandrashekar 61st).
