A State-level convention opposing the proposed amendments to the Karnataka Land Reforms Act, 1974, is being organised on July 7.
The amendment bill, which is to be tabled in the next session, pertains to farmers leasing out their lands to agriculture companies, redefining the term ‘agriculturist’ and increasing the land ceiling per family from 58 acres to 108 acres.
Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha and Karnataka Prantha Krushikara Sangha are jointly organising this convention, which will be inaugurated by West Bengal leader of Opposition Suryakant Mishra.
The convention will be held between 11 am and 4.30 pm at NGO Bhavan, Bangalore.
