JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy challenged leader of opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah to win more seats than his party in the next Assembly elections.

Addressing media persons here on Sunday, he said several BJP and Congress leaders think that the JD(S) would be able to win only 40-50 seats.

But, in the next elections the JD(S) will show them its strength. “Let us see how many seats Siddaramaiah will win in the next elections,” he challenged. He urged the BJP to complete the remaining term in power by taking measures to resolve issues such as drought, which is affecting the state.

Kumaraswamy said farmer have been devastated due to drought situation in the state. He said state politics is heading in the wrong direction, owing to recent political situation.

People are tired of the recent developments and only want the government to provide good governance. He said, “It is to be seen for how long the government will remain in power, before the remote control takes control of the government.”

Whenever a chief minister is elected, he is responsible for the whole state and not for any particular community. No community should try to divide politics on caste lines.

Each community has a share in government, he added. When questioned if the JD(S) had supported Sadananda Gowda, Kumaraswamy said, “I gave him suitable suggestions to improve governance.

But Sadananda Gowda didn’t take them into consideration.”
