Last Updated 21 July 2012, 18:12 IST

This year, the Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test (ISEET) will pose a big challenge to over five lakh candidates seeking entry into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other reputable technology institutions.

Hitherto used to the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE), the candidates have a lot of questions on the new test. To guide them through this uncertain period and prepare them for the tough hurdle ahead, Deccan Herald-Prajavani are back this year with a counselling session anchored by Anand Kumar of Super-30 Fame. The programme is organised in association with the Department of Public Instruction.

The expert counselling session, which will vastly benefit students of 10th standard, PUC and 10+2, will be held at the Shikshakara Sadana on K G Road (Opposite Cauvery Bhavan), near Mysore Bank Circle, Bangalore on Sunday, July 22, 10 am to 1.30 pm. Registrations will start at 8.30 am.

Expert guidance will be of immense help to students since this is the first year of the ISEET format. Anand Kumar (of Super 30 fame), reputed mathematician and educational coach, has received worldwide recognition for his path-breaking work in coaching intelligent students from economically weaker sections to get into the IITs.

ISEET will be a common entrance examination for all IITs, NITs and all other engineering colleges.

The ISEET exam is divided into two phases — Main and Advance. Together, this will indicate a candidate’s scholastic level and aptitude for science and engineering. ISEET Main will assess objectivity in the areas of test comprehension, critical thinking and logical reasoning. ISEET Advance will test the problem-solving ability of students in the basic science subjects.

On Sunday, there will also be a training session in the afternoon for teachers and parents by Dr Ali Khwaja on ‘emotional intelligence to handle children’ and Mathematics teaching techniques by Anand Kumar. Entry will be free and the seating will be on a first-come-first served basis
