Following the Court order, all the residents of Thathkola were evicted and provided rehabilitation facility in various villages.

However, evacuees who were given rehabilitation facility at Uggehalli Pyatehithlu (Anajoor) are still waiting for the basic facilities.

Pyatehithlu (Anajoor) has 30 houses belonging to SC. However, the colony is devoid of basic facilties including proper housing, water, electricity and school. The promises have remained only on paper.

The villagers have to walk for more than half kilometre to fetch a pot of water from Hemavathi river daily. By drinking water directly from river without treating, the villagers have been suffering from various water borne diseases.

The children from the hamlet have to walk for two kilometre to enter the portal of a government school.

Many say “the government had released several packages to the evacuees of the Thathkola. However, the leaders who led the protest for the Thathkola evacuees have taken away the money.”

“Several people had claimed the package by furnishing false documents and are living lavishly in Mudigere. Without basic facilities, we are living in hell here at Uggehalli Pyatehithlu,” said Ganesh.

Ramajja, an aged man in the village said “we were leading a peaceful life at Thathkola. Here we are living in a hell. None of the officials are trying to solve our problems.”
