<p>A city-based manufacturing company is making waves by selling battery equipped electric cycles both at home and abroad. <br /><br /></p>.<p>M M Technologies proprietor M M Ananth claims that battery equipped electric cycles can cover a distance of 30 km each, if charged for eight hours.<br /><br />The electric cycle can cover a distance of 30 km including climbing slopes and reaches a top speed of 23 kmph. In a month, the electric cycle can cover a distance of 900 km for a cost of Rs 70. The cycle has been attached with a battery and an accelerator knob, which can be used to control the speed of the cycle.<br /><br />Ananth said that their company has sold over 20,000 cycles as of now and has set a target of selling 1,000 cycles per month. They also have enquiries from Nairobi, Cape Town in South Africa and Ghana.<br /><br />Cost-effective<br /><br />He said the cycles, which are powered by a battery, costs around Rs 14,000. Interested persons can also get their cycles fitted with the battery which costs Rs 9,000.<br /><br /> Mentioning that the technology is completely indigenous, Ananth said the battery would last for two years if used on a regular basis.<br /><br />The most important advantage unlike other electric motoscooters, which run on battery, is that in case the charge runs out, people can always pedal to reach their destination. <br /><br />M M Technologies is located at SM-160, third main road, Hebbal Industrial Estate in Mysore.<br /></p>
