The success of weavers dharna by YSRC (YSR Congress) party honorary President Y S Vijayamma at Siricilla town on Monday has raised heckles to Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and the Congress high command from unexpected quarters - Congress MPs from Telengana.

The Congress MPs who have been campaigning for months that the chief minister was a ‘covert’  follower of  YSRC now say that he deliberately gave full support to Vijayamma’s yatra and diksha at weavers’ town. Congress MPs from Telangana region on Tuesday met AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad and complained against Kiran for deploying nearly 15,000 police personnel for security at Vijayalakshmi’s protest programme.

“Where was the need to provide a security cover on par with President or PM visit by sterilising the entire 210 kms route from Hyderabad to Sircilla?” they asked.

Congress MPs Ponnam Prabhakar, G Vivek, Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Madhu Yashki Goud, S Rajaiah and Manda Jagannadham told Azad that the CMO and the DGPs office even directed the district police officials to spare no one and take recourse to tear gas, lathi charge and even firing if necessary to control protestors and innocent people of Telangana who “questioned Vijayalakshmi’s intentions of holding dharna in Siricilla town.

“We understand she had to be briefed for days as to where Siricilla was located, what was the problem and what she has to say,” said MP Prabhakar contending that CM was playing a double card – to protect his seat and loyalties to YSR family...Kiran Kumar Reddy is only suppressing the Congress leaders of Telagnana, but supporting the TRS and YSRC leaders,” the MPs told reporters.

Reacting to the criticism from Telangana Congress MPs, PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana dismissed the allegation that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was covertly supporting the YSRCP leadership.
