Eshwarappa's foul language angers Opposition

Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa while making a candid admission that his party too had indulged in ‘bad politics,’ got into trouble when he used an unparliamentary word in the Council on Thursday.

While replying to a debate on drought, when some of the Opposition members said the ruling party should not indulge in politics while taking up drought relief work, Eshwarappa hit back saying, “Our children will attract curse if we indulge in politics in such matters.”

Congress member Motamma took exception to the statement and pointed out how the ruling party members were busy in party politics.

Eshwarappa said he was aware of the bad politics indulged in by his partymen and those in the Opposition.

While saying so, he used an unparliamentary word. When his statement was repeatedly telecast by TV channels, Congress member Allama Prabhu Patil demanded an apology from Eshwarappa. Other Opposition members also joined him.

Eshwarappa argued that he had not used any word which he needed to retract.  Chairman D H Shankar Murthy expunged the word.
