ABVP plans 'Samparka abhiyan' from October 2

Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, ABVP State Secretary P M Ravichandra said that the abhiyan will be started off nation wide, wherein ABVP will reach out to students, teaching community and the distinguished people in the society and talk to them about the need for students’ movement. He said that meanwhile in the state, volunteers will go to colleges, hostels and homes and hold discussion with the students on the lines of building up students’ movement. ABVP will print ‘ABVP 60- Deshakkagi ondu andholana,’ ‘ABVP Vaicharika Andholana’ and booklets on environment, harmony and education.

Protest

He informed that ABVP will stage a protest on September 25 in all colleges coming under the jurisdiction of Mangalore University against various problems pertaining to students.
“Results are not released on time, misappropriation in examinations, problems in mark lists and evaluation and various other problems are being faced by the student community. ABVP will demand the Universities to maintain quality in examination system,” he said and added that a memorandum mention the demands of the students will be submitted to Vice-Chancellor.

Rangathorana

He said that ABVP has been organising Natakotsavas for the past 4 years and on this lines, it will organise its 5th Natakotsava from October 9 to 11 at Bellary Kalamandira. Eminent theatre personalities like Subhadramma Mansoor, Belagallu Veeranna, Srinivas Kappanna, Dr B V Rajaram, B Jayashri and others will grace the occasion. The Natakotsava which is reserved only for students is open for students from PUC to any professional courses. “The drama to be staged by the students should be social, historical, mythological or comical in theme and the span of drama must be restricted to 45 minutes. It should not have any derogatory remarks on any organisation, caste, community, religion or person. It should not be vulgar and should speak of human values and have social message,” said Ravichandra.

He informed that the team can have 15 members, with 12 stage artists and 3 assistants and each of the participants should have their college ID card. The drama can be directed by students and any staff of the college. Food and stay will be taken care by the organisers. The winners at the Rangathorana will bag a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with citation and memento while runner up will bag a cash prize of Rs 6,000, citation and memento. Best actor (male, female), best director and best theatre set up will be given.
