Syria opener for Indians

Defending champions India have been drawn to play Syria in the opening match of the Nehru Cup football tournament which kicks-off at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium from on August 22.

The final will be held on September 2.

Besides the hosts, Cam-eroon, Syria, Nepal and Maldives make up the five-team group.
Each team will play each other once in the league stage with the top two teams advancing to the final.

India had won the last two editions of the Nehru Cup, beating Syria in the final on both occasions.

Fixtures: August 22: India vs Syria; Aug 23: Maldives vs Nepal; Aug 24: Syria vs Cameroon; Aug 25: India vs Maldives; Aug 26: Nepal vs Cameroon; Aug 27: Maldives vs Syria; Aug 28: India vs Nepal; Aug 29: Cameroon vs Maldives; Aug 30: Syria vs Nepal; Aug 31: India vs Cameroon; September 2: Final.
