Electronic City to be notified area soon

The Electronic City Industrial Area would shortly designated as notified area, according to Commerce & Industry Principal Secretary M N Vidyashankar.

Addressing the Fkcci members, he said, the State Cabinet will stamp its approval either this week or next. Likewise, he said, the plea of other industrial estates in the State, such as Peenya, Belgaum, was also under active consideration of the government. The request note from these is currently being considered by the government.

Further, he said, the move to provide sanctions to small and medium projects up to Rs 15 crore and similarly enhance the scope of single window agency and high level committee to clear projects of higher value was also being duly considered by the State government. Also the need to do away with the trade licences for the small and medium enterprises was also under process. The legal draft in this regard is being vetted and once the same is approved by the panel it will be set in motion, he added.

Incidentally, he said, the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Development Corporation would be renamed Micro Small and Medium Enterprises  Corporation. Similarly, he said, the State government would be launching a new portal wherein investors can track the status of their projects on an active basis. The portal will be linked with the AdvantageKarnataka.com site of the government.

He further said, the government plans to replicate Taiwan’s successful Information Technology Research Institute-like project at the birth place of Sir M Visveswaraiah in Muddenahalli, Chikkaballapur  district. “It would be on a smaller scale than the Taiwanese one,” Vidyashankar said, adding a report in this regard prepared by scientist Roddam Narasimha is being vetted by Prof C N R Rao. Around 250 acre has been earmarked.
