Sarita, a victim of alleged sexual harassment at the University of Mysore, on Friday met DG and IG of Police L Pachau in Bangalore exhorting the latter to hand over the case to Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

In a meeting that lasted 30 minutes with the top cop of the state, Sarita and her husband D R Vijaykumar alleged that despite three recent threat calls to them, the cops were yet to act. “Moreover, the investigation officer of the case, ACP of N R sub-division C D Jagadeesh is buying time to prepare a chargesheet. This, despite a ruling of the high court on June 4, directing the police to file a report within 60 days,” they alleged.

Sarita told the DG and IG, “The ACP called us (her and her husband) on August 2 asking to appear for inquiry the following day. But nothing fructified, as the investigating officer left the process midway, following a call from police commissioner K L Sudheer”.

“The officer made us to wait till the evening. It is still not known what transpired between the officer and his boss,” she said.

Following the incident and later developments, Sarita has moved to Bangalore and has continued with her research for Ph D. Sarita had attempted suicide alleging sexual harassment from Shivabasavaiah the then guide and HoD of zoology department. Shivabasavaiah is the prime accused, followed by vice-chancellor V G Talwar in the case.
