112 from K'taka join Indian Army as soldiers

Speaking to reporters, he said that among the candidates selected, 17 were sent to army training centres across the country from the headquarters recruiting zone in the City on Thursday.

“We have already sent 85 candidates during the past two days. These candidates have not only successfully completed all the physical and mental tests for recruitment to the Army, but also have scored well the merit list too,” he said.

Selected candidates will now undergo a rigorous training regimen for a period of nine months to an year, and then be posted to various batallions/ units across the country. These youth have been selected through various recruitment rallies held at Tumkur, Mandya, Mysore, Kolar, Chamarajanagar, Ramanagar, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore Urban and Chikkaballapur.

Two sub-cycles

According to Col Nautiyal, the Army conducts two sub-cycles of recruitment a year (April to September and October to March). In total, about 700 candidates would have been dispatched by the end of this month from the State (Bangalore, Mangalore and Belgaum) for the recruiting sub-cycle from April to September this year.

Similar dispatches are also being undertaken by the Army at other recruiting offices under the jurisdiction of HQ Recruiting Zone, Bangalore namely Belgaum, Mangalore, Trivandrum and Calicut.
