The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike is not keen to penalise the garbage contractors who held the City to ransom by not lifting garbage for three days.
“The contractors did not do their work and so there will not be any payment for three days.
That itself is a punishment. What is the use of penalising them when their contract is coming to a close,” Palike Commissioner M K Shankaralinge Gowda said.
He was speaking to reporters at the Police Parade Grounds on Monday. The City is yet to recover from the fallout of the strike by Palike employees and heaps of garbage still line the roads in several areas.
The garbage contractors lent their support to the three-day stir of the BBMP employees, who were up in arms against the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force for booking cases against them, including B T Ramesh, the engineer-in-chief.
