Rs 50 lakh work on developing stadium launched in Chintamani

Speaking after inaugurating the ground-breaking ceremony here Legislator Dr M  C Sudhakar promised that the stadium, which is located in the heart of the City, will be well-equipped and modernised.

The Union government’s 11th Finance Commission had released funds for development of stadiums in the State five years ago. Of this, Rs 50 lakh has been sanctioned to the development of Jhansi stadium, he added.

The works on the stadium should be completed by the end of March, the legislator said. A taluk-level committee has been formed for this purpose. The fund sanctioned for the stadium works will be deposited in the committee’s bank account and hence there is no need to come to Zilla Panchayat for money every time.

The legislator said that the main entrance of the stadium will be on the Gurubhavana side. Volleyball, Basketball and all other sports will be given priority, he said.

Drainage construction

Besides the toilet facility within the stadium and outside the stadium for the benefit of the shop-keepers will be provided in order to keep the surroundings clean. He sought the public co-operation in this regard.

Sudhakar further said that Rs six crore has been released for the underground drainage in Thimmasandra, Chowdareddypalya, Ashraya Layout, Kanampalli  and Idlypallya. Process of calling tender for the works is underway, he added.  He said that Rs five crore will be released from the Chief Minister’s Fund for the development works undertaken by the City Municipal Council.

City Municipal Council President Venkataravanaswamy, Taluk Panchayat President H K Manjunath, Block Education Officer K Manjunath, Chief Executive Officer K V Reddappa, Commissioner Swamy, City Municipal Council  members and officials of various departments, leaders Gopalreddy and others were present on the occasion.
