<p>Sixteen people have been arrested on charges of rioting in Nangloi in west Delhi on Tuesday over a molestation incident.</p>.<p><br />Two groups had clashed on Tuesday, and several persons, including policemen, were injured, prompting police to use tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.<br />“Some more people are likely to be arrested. We are taking precautionary measures and one company of the force is still deployed in the area,” said V Renganathan, additional commissioner of police (west). <br /><br />Officially, only two persons suffered injuries, apart from five policemen. Police had initially said that a number of people were injured, but none were willing to visit the hospital over fear of getting arrested.</p>.<p><br />Tension began brewing in Budh Vihar Galli on Monday after a woman from one of the groups was allegedly molested outside Nangloi Metro station when she was passing by.<br />“Immediately, the girl whose relative owns a shop in Budh Vihar arrived with his associates and entered into a scuffle with the men belonging to the other group,” said a senior police officer.</p>.<p><br />The situation was brought under control and about 25 police personnel were stationed in the area.</p>.<p><br />However, at 5.30 pm on Tuesday, the situation went out of control again when the two groups began abusing each other and pelting stones.<br />“Before we knew it, the tension had spread to the entire area. We had to use tear gas shells to bring the crowd under control,” the official added.<br />People are yet to file a case of molestation as the victim has not come forward to record a statement.</p>.<p><br />“We will take action if the victim approaches us,” the official said.<br /></p>
