In his resignation letter, addressed to BMRCL Chairman N Sivasailam, Reddy claimed the five-member expert committee constituted to examine the implications of the project on the city environment has not been convened even once during the past two years, though thousands of trees are being felled, to make way for the project.

"If I as chairman of the committee has not been informed about the environment initiatives undertaken, what will be the plight of the people", he stated in his letter.

Reddy has urged the the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited to keep the status of Bangalore as a Garden City intact.
