Q The skin around my toes have become very rough and dark and it gets worse when I step out into the sun. There is a hard dead skin formation on the big toe. How do I get rid of it? How can I regain the fair and soft skin on my feet?

A Since there seems to be a thick skin-like growth on the toes, it is a good idea to consult a dermatologist to ensure that it is not a skin condition which needs medical treatment.

You can take pieces of lemon and rub them on the toes daily before a bath. Wash it off with water and then apply sesame seed (til) oil on the feet and toes and massage it into the skin. Immediately after a bath, while the skin is still damp, apply a light moisturiser and massage it into the skin. Mix gram flour (besan) with curd, lemon juice and a pinch of turmeric into a paste. Apply on the dark areas of the feet three times a week. Wash it off after half an hour. But first, consult the dermatologist, as advised.
