The Amrutahalli police have arrested five persons, including a woman, for killing dogs. Narayanamma, Lakshmana, Madappa, Anji and Reddappa, all from Kodooru village near Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh, are the arrested.

The police grew suspicious when they found a group of men luring dogs with biscuits. When they followed the men, they reached a farmland next to Jakkur air station. The police found four men and a woman living in a shed on the farmland. Also, they saw nearly 20 stray dogs tied to trees.

As the police went around the farmland, they spotted gunny bags stacked next to a drain. When they opened the bags, they found decomposed bodies of 12 dogs.

When interrogated, the gang admitted to luring dogs, to domesticate them for protecting their drift of pigs back home in Andhra Pradesh. However, the gang was mum when questioned about the dead dogs.
