Students of the Sir M Visvesvaraya Memorial Educational Institute protested outside the Department of Public Instruction on Saturday, demanding a withdrawal of the decision to transfer lecturers termed additional.

“The block education officer (BEO), who had visited the institute to check if there were additional lecturers, has already submitted a report that there are such lecturers. He has also ordered the transfer of two,” complained students and demanded that the faulty report be withdrawn too.

They added that the management of the Institute had already submitted a resolution, supplemented by records, that there are no additional lecturers, and also requested the BEO to withdraw the report. “The officer, however, has taken to action to repeal the order. The BEO should revisit the Institute and check for facts again,” protesters said.

“The officers at the Department of Public Instruction should closely examine reports submitted by the BEOs and take strict action if faulty reports are submitted. They should cancel the current report, regarding the Institute,” they demanded.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Public Instruction (DDPI), Ajit Prasad, who spoke to the protesters, promised to examine the issue and take suitable action.
