The work on doubling the railway tracks from Arasikere to Birur and on new railway station has been taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 239 crore and the work will be completed within a few months, said Mysore division Railways Manager Vinod Kumar.

Speaking to presspersons after inspecting the ongoing work, he said that Kadur railway station has been upgraded as ‘B’ grade station. After the completion of the work on Chikmagalur railway track, Kadur railway station will be converted into Junction railway station.

The railway gate at K M Road will be closed after its completion. A small path is being laid near Santhekere bridge, to facilitate the movement of vehicles.

The MLA urged the railway officials to give their nod for laying pipeline to supply drinking water to Jodithimmapura. To which, the officials replied positively.

The station master Shankaraiah said that all the trains will enter the second platform till the work on railway station is complete. Hence all the passengers have to wait for the train in the second platform. The officials visited Bisilehalli, Sakharayapattana, Kanivehalli, Chikmagalur railway stations. Senior divisional Manager (commercial) Dr Anoop Dayanand Saadu, Division Controller Rajalingam and others were present.
