To express solidarity, the college students, youth organisations and youth wings of various political parties will join hands together to stage a protest rally and mass protest condemning the home stay attack, on September 1.

Dakshina Kannada District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai informed media persons on Thursday, that the youth wings of political parties including Youth Congress, National Students Union of India (NSUI), Students Federation of India (SFI), Yuva Janata Dal, Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), All India Students Federation (AISF), VJD(S) and AIYF will stage a protest rally from Jyothi Circle to Deputy Commissioner’s office at 10 am.
The students of various colleges in and around the city will boycott  classes and join the protest.

“The district has been witnessing several anti-social incidents like home stay attack, pub attack, church attack in the recent years. These incidents have severly affected the students from far away places who arrive at  the district for education purpose. Hence, the students supported by college organisations have decided to stage a protest demanding the administration to take up measures to stop the repetition of such incidents,” Rai said.

DYFI District President Muneer Katipalla said that the protesters demand the police department to maintain law and order and protect the constitutional rights of the citizens, without succumbing to any external forces.
