The BJP on Saturday demanded that police should register an FIR against Delhi chief minister and she should resign on moral grounds as a Delhi court upheld a complaint against chief minister Sheila Dikshit in relation with Commonwealth Games corruption.

Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party state president Vijender Gupta also trained his guns on PWD minister Raj Kumar Chauhan for his alleged involvement in the matter and sought his resignation as well.

“Now Delhi Police should register FIR with complete impartiality and transparency against the loot of public money and take action against chief minister Sheila Dikshit and minister Raj Kumar Chauhan,” said Gupta.

“The two should immediately resign so that impartial inquiry without fear and influence can be carried out by the investigating agencies,” he said.

Gupta cited constitutional bodies such as CAG, CVC and Lokayukta to have found Delhi government’s involvement in the CWG bungling for chief minister’s immediate resignation.

In December, 2011, Advocate Vivek Garg had petitioned in Tis Hazari court that Dikshit was accountable for corruption of thousands of crores in the renovation work of five stadiums, including JLN Stadium.

Garg had told the court that he had submitted the petition to Delhi Police for registering a case and starting an enquiry against Dikshit but since they work under the chief minister, an FIR was not filed.

Delhi police told the court the case has been forwarded to the CBI for enquiry and now their responsibility was over, said Gupta.
