The Lokayukta court on Tuesday dealt a twin blow to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa by summoning him in cases related to awarding of contracts for the Upper Bhadra Project (UBP) and illegal denotification of land in Bhadravathi.

Posting the hearing in both cases to September 25, Lokayukta judge N K Sudhindra Rao also directed the other interested parties in the two cases to appear before him.

In the Upper Bhadra case, the Lokayukta court has summoned Yeddyurappa’s sons B Y Raghavendra and B Y Vijendra, and son-in-law Sohan Kumar who are proprietors of Dhavalagiri Properties, besides Sahyadhri Healthcare, the beneficiary of the alleged kickbacks.

The court has also issued summons to Naveen Shetty of RNS Developers who were awarded the UBP contract.

On May 26, the Lokayukta court had rejected the ‘B’ report filed by the Lokayukta police.
Justice Rao had directed the Lokayukta police to probe the allegations against Yeddyurappa, Dhavalagiri Properties, Sahyadhri Healthcare and Murdeshwar Enterprises, and submit its report.

Y S V Datta had alleged that Yeddyurappa had received a Rs 16-crore kickback for awarding the contract for second stage of the Upper Bhadra irrigation project to RNS Infrastructure Limited and Jyothi Limited, though the joint venture firm was the highest bidder.

In the Bhadravathi illegal land denotification case, the complainant, Vinod B, alleged that Yeddyurappa had used benamis to get 250 acres of forest land transferred to the name of Dhavalagiri Properties, two months after denotifying it between 2010 and 2011.

The court also summoned the five benamis — B K Somashekhar, his mother Adi Lakshmamamma, his wife B S Uma Devi, his sister B K Radhamani and H V Manjunath who was asked to execute the sale deed in favour of Dhavalagiri Properties.
