<p>The High Court on Thursday directed the government to file a status report on a petition alleging discrepancies in distribution of BPL cards.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Hearing a petition by Minister S A Ramdas, the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice B V Nagarathna directed the State government to furnish details pertaining to the distribution of cards to both the eligible and ineligible.<br /><br />Additional advocate general K M Natraj submitted that 31 lakh applications have been received for the cards. Those applications which are not eligible have been cancelled and the eligible will get the cards, he added.<br /><br />The Bench directed to file a status report and adjourned the matter. Ramdas, in 2006, had filed the petition when he was not a legislator complaining that BPL cards were issued to ineligible persons.</p>
