'McCulllum's knock made difference'

Skipper MS Dhoni was content despite the team’s one-run loss to New Zealand in the second T20 International at the MA Chidambaram stadium on Tuesday.

“No, it didn’t go exactly according to the plan because by the end of your plan you want to win,” said Dhoni during the post-match press conference.

“But overall it was a good game. The fast bowlers gave us a very good start and I think (Brendon) McCullum batted really well in the middle overs. He took on our spinners on and made it quite difficult for us. Bala (Lakshmipathy Balaji) bowled really well in the death.”

The Jharkhandi was also happy with Yuvraj Singh’s performance in his comeback match.
“It was good to see Yuvraj come back and score some runs. It was a big game for him. He chipped in with a couple of overs and batted well,” said Dhoni.

Explaining the mood and how hard it was to try and keep their emotions in check, Dhoni said: “It’s quite easy. Once you go on to the field you don’t think about all these things. From tomorrow, he can do whatever he wants to because that will not put any real pressure on him.”

New Zealand’s James Franklin said that the team was overjoyed by their success.
“It has been a tough tour for us. We did badly in the Tests, but this is definitely something we'll celebrate. It is good to end on a winning note,” signed off the medium-pacer.
