Youths held for raping, killing 15-year-old girl

Taken to Bareilly, body dumped in canal after assault

Three youths have been arrested for the murder and gang rape of a 15-year-old girl who was kidnapped from Burari area of north Delhi in August. One of the accused who knew the girl had taken her to Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district, where she was raped, police said on Saturday.

According to Sindhu Pillai, deputy commissioner of police (north), the girl’s body was found dumped in semi-naked condition in a canal in Bareilly.

“Investigation has now led to the arrest of Arvind Kumar, Ramavtar Yadav and Vijayveer Singh, who hail from Uttar Pradesh. Another accused, Vipin, is yet to be nabbed,” Pillai added.

On August 17, Rajbir Singh (changed name) had reported that his daughter was kidnapped by unknown persons.

He did not point out the involvement of any specific person, but during the course of investigation it was found that the girl was involved with Arvind.

“He used to visit the girl’s house as his friend Vipin used to live there on rent,” Pillai said.
On August 10, the girl left her house with Vipin and stayed at Madhu Vihar till August 19. Arvind told his neighbours that the girl was his niece and cousin of Vipin.

Arvind and the victim had sexual intercourse several times in the house. “However, out of fear of getting embroiled in social and local issues they pressurised her to return home,” Pillai added.

When she refused to do so, finding no other way they conspired to kill and dump her body outside Delhi.

On August 19, they boarded a bus from Anand Vihar bus terminal to Aligarh. On reaching Chandosi, Arvind spoke to his brother-in-law Vijayveer and told him about their plan.

They reached Bareilly Junction on August 20, from where Vijayveer along with his friend Ramavtar took them to his parents’ village at Pachhua.

“They killed the girl after raping her turn by turn at an isolated area of the village along Nakatiya Nala. and later dumped her semi-naked body in the canal,” Pillai said.

Local police of Nawab Ganj had recovered her decomposed body on August 27. The plan was busted after Arvind was questioned on the basis of technical surveillance.
