Leave ministry, focus on party: BSY tells KSE

Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has demanded that K S Eshwarappa should resign from the post of Deputy Chief Minister and concentrate on his other post of the State BJP president.

Yeddyurappa told reporters in the city on Tuesday that such a step would end the confusions over choosing a new State party chief.

He said it was difficult for Eshwarappa to discharge his duties both as minister and as the State chief of the party, especially in an election year when he would have to tour the State to galvanise the party machinery.

Eshwarappa had in the past sacrificed his post as minister to take up the responsibility of leading the party in the State. He should do so once again, said the former chief minister.

“Eshwarappa regrets having brought the BJP to power with the aid of money and caste. The time is now ripe for Eshwarappa to strive towards bringing the party back to power without the help of money and caste,” Yeddyurappa said.

He clarified that he had no plans to resign from the BJP, but alleged that some leaders in the party were conspiring to keep him away from the party. But he would quit BJP, if his self-respect came under strain.
