Two touts, who allegedly cheated parents by promising seats for their wards
in prestigious schools and colleges in City, were arrested by the Vidhana Soudha police recently.

Acting on a complaint filed by a victim, police arrested Vijay Kumar, 32, a resident of RT Nagar and a reporter at the Vidhana Soudha, and Lokesh Rao, 40, a resident of Vijay Nagar and an employee of a private factory. The police have seized a computer, hard disk and a few fake letterheads from them.

The police said that Rao and Kumar along with their associates Madhu and Umesh were involved in the racket. They would approach parents promising seats for their children in reputed schools and colleges for money.

The moment they received the money, they would write a letter to certain schools and colleges on fake letterheads.

Then the suspects would forge the signature in the letterhead as Dr Diwakar, Special Officer to Chief Minister, and send it to the schools and colleges demanding seats.

They would later call the institution heads to remind them about the seats, police added.
