Lokayukta cops asked to probe Sharma

The Special Lokayukta Court on Thursday referred a private complaint against Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force Chairman R P Sharma, to Lokayukta police for investigation.

The complaint has been referred under Section 156(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The complaint filed by a businessman S M Alex accuses Sharma of giving a false information in his declaration of assets and liabilities and also misusing his powers to purchase property in Doddagubbi in Bangalore rural district.

Judge N K Sudhindra Rao, who directed DySP H S Manjunath to conduct the investigation, also directed him to submit a report on October 20. The complaint lists Village accountant of Doddagubbi M Srinivas, Village Panchayat Secretary R Nagaraj, R P Sharma and private person Purushottam as the accused.

According to the complaint, R P Sharma acquired a property in Doddagubbi measuring 10,200 sq ft from Purushottam in 2008 for Rs 17 lakh.

However, this property was purchased in 2006 by Purushottam in 2006, even though he had no source of income.

The complainant alleged that it was Sharma who had given the money for the purchase of the property in 2006. In 2008, he also wrote to the government stating that he was officially purchasing the plot for Rs 17 lakh, but did not mention any details including the survey number of the land.

Alex, in his complaint, also stated that in 2011, a rectification deed brought out by Sharma mentioned the land was converted from agricultural to residential purpose, but the fact was not mentioned in the schedule. While it was mentioned by Sharma that the plot was purchased by paying Rs 9 lakh in cash and Rs 8 lakh in cheque, the cheque was bogus as it was not processed by any bank, the complainant claimed.

No BDA sanction

Sharma, the complainant claimed, had not sought for any sanction or permission from the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), even though the land came under the purview of the BDA. The civic authority had also issued a notice to Sharma in this regard, Alex stated.
Alex also claimed that Sharma even before taking over as the Chief of BMTC had called him and stated that Alex’s house which is adjacent to the one owned by Sharma, belonged to the government and required BDA permission to proceed with construction.
After he took over as Chief, he issued a notice to Alex for violation of rules, Alex contended.

Alex alleged that Sharma had used his influence to get plan sanction and licence from the Doddagubbi Panchayat, even though he was aware that it fell under BDA jurisdiction.
