The State Cabinet on Friday gave its approval for the financial bid for the Rs 115-crore signal-free corridor project at Okalipuram near Majestic.

Urban Development Minister S Suresh Kumar told reporters after the Cabinet meeting that Simplex Infrastructure Ltd has bagged the project. The company had quoted 34 per cent more than what was fixed in the tender.

“This because the civil work for the project is very complicated. The Cabinet approved the cost of civil work at Rs 102 crore, as sought by the company,” he added. Under the project, an eight-lane, signal-free corridor will be constructed between Khoday Circle and Rajajinagar entrance.

The project, to be completed in two years, also comprises construction of an underpass and two, he added.
