Wakf Board Chairperson R Abdul Riyaz Khan on Saturday said the findings of a report submitted by Karnataka Minorities Commission chairperson Anwar Manipaddy on encroachment of Wakf properties were baseless.

No political leader has encroached upon any Wakf property anywhere in the State, said Khan, who is also indicted in the report for allegedly selling a Wakf land. He is alleged to have offered a bribe of Rs four crore to prevent his name from appearing in the report.

Besides, several senior political leaders, mainly from the Congress, too have been indicted in the report.

Manipaddy’s report, which pegged the total loss to Wakf Board at a whopping Rs two lakh crore due to encroachments, was prepared with an ulterior motive, Khan said.

The chairperson said that about 5077.10 acres of Wakf properties have been identified as encroached across the State.

They include 634 acres in Bangalore Urban, 29 acres in Bangalore Rural district, 1,061 acres in Bagalkot, 26 acres in Belgaum, 1,974 acres in Bidar and 950 acres in Gulbarga district.

Out of 35,500 properties with the Board, survey of 18,314 cases has been completed, he added. The Board has total of 33,500 properties.

Of this, survey of 18,314 cases has been completed, he said. Minister for Wakf and APMC S K Bellubi, who was present in the press conference, said that the probe, ordered by the government, will reveal the truth.
