A space to explore creativity

Last Updated 24 September 2012, 13:29 IST

Confluence’, the inter-college fest of C B Bhandari Jain College, saw over 50 colleges of the City take part in its day-long cultural extravaganza.

The college auditorium was packed to full capacity for events like the group dance, business quiz and humourous skit.

Cheers and the occasional jeers could be heard from the crowd of participants, organisers and students from the various colleges, who had attended to watch and cheer their friends.

Some of the participating colleges were New Horizon College, Kristu Jayanti College, Vasavi Institute of Management and Advanced Studies, Christ College, Dayananda Sagar Institutions, PESIT and Seshadri College, among others.

The much-awaited fashion show proved to be an explosion of the theme ‘Colour’, with various hues, textures and fabrics showcased by the participants. People even went to the extent of making fashion statements by using grocery bags, made of jute, as fabric for their clothes.

“The theme added variety to the fashion show because one could use it innovatively. A lot of people tried exotic looks and dressed up as gypsies and what not, because it was such a liberal theme,” says Anugna, a second-year degree student of S R N Adarsh College.

Other events in the fest, such as the English proficiency quiz, ‘Best Manager’, ‘Treasure Hunt’ and hair-styling competition, also saw heavy participation from all colleges.

“Fests are a place to learn from our own experiences, as well as witness the great talents of participants. From mehendi competitions to the fashion show, every event was organised well. I’m proud to be a student of this college,” shares Radha, a student of the host college.

Heena Lodha, president of the cultural association, felt that the creative freedom given to the students by the college was much needed.

“The freedom to explore various aspects of the event, along with the coordinated efforts of all the senior students, made the event a huge success. Even something like organising a whacky and fun treasure hunt was possible only because of our college’s support,” concludes Heena.
