During the TP general meeting chaired by the TP President Ramachandra Kumpala here on Thursday, the BJP and Congress members alleged that Dakshina Kannada has been denied of certain facilities under the NREGS compared to other districts.
Raising the issue in the meeting, member Prithviraj said that the officials had told the Gram Sabha in Kuppepadav recently that even the works like manuring coconut and areca plantations can be brought under the NREG Scheme, but later they rejected the applications.

TP former president Gokuldas Shetty supported the point stating that the scheme has extended assistance even to clean up storm water drains in Udupi district.
The members urged that a resolution should be passed in this regard and be sent to the government. Discussing the issue of mass resignation by the government doctors, the TP members felt that the development has caused serious problems in rural areas and the government should immediately settle the crisis.
Member Sujatha pointed out that a school at Ulipady was closed down due to lack of students, but at present the number of students in the area has increased, necessitating the reopening of the school.

The officials representing the Public Instructions Department said that the Deputy Director of Public Instructions (DDPI) has assured of reopening the school from the next academic year.

TP Vice President Sriyala G Hegde, Standing Committee head Ramesh Poojary and Executive Officer Kantharaj were present.
