Mystery surrounds man's death

Last Updated 06 October 2012, 20:23 IST

A man, who had been missing from east Delhi’s Krishna Nagar, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Jagatpuri on Friday.

Avdhesh Kumar alias Vicky, 32, of west Guru Angad Nagar worked with a cosmetics manufacturing factory in Patparganj. He had left for office on Thursday morning, but did not return home even on Friday.

Worried, his family members began a search and contacted his friends and colleagues. They claimed that his colleagues had dropped him at Krishna Nagar late on Thursday.

The family decided to approach police after all their efforts failed till Friday afternoon. Later they got a call from police to identify a body at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.

“The body was identified as Avdhesh. An initial medical examination revealed that Avdhesh was admitted with a head injury and died due to excessive bleeding,” a police official said.

The official further said Avdhesh was brought to the hospital in Dilshad Garden after being found unconscious at Jagatpuri. “Prima facie, it seems to be a case of a road accident. We believe that no foul play was involved in the incident,” the official added.

Police are, however, also investigating the matter from a murder angle. Meanwhile, Avdhesh’s family insists that he was murdered.

“If he was killed in a road accident, there would have been injury marks on his body. From what we have noticed, there are no injury marks anywhere, except on his head,” Naresh, a close relative said.

A case of murder has been lodged with Jagatpuri police station. Police are questioning his family members, colleagues and friends to ascertain sequence of events leading to his death.

Avdhesh is survived by his mother, six brothers and three sisters.
