Seven held for planning robbery

»Police have arrested seven persons who were allegedly planning to commit a robbery in Kalasipalya. The weapons that they wanted to use in their operations have also been recovered. Police said Jibran (21) and Adil Khan (22), both residents of Hosaguddadahalli; Yusuf (23), Sadiq Sharief (22), Ghouse Khan (23), all residents of Haleguddadahalli; Farooq (28), a resident of Kalasipalya and Zamir (22) of Sarepalya, were nabbed near Tippu Sultan’s armoury on Friday night when they were about to carry out a robbery.

Dowry death

»A 31-year-old home maker committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Ramamurthy Nagar on Friday.

Police said the deceased Sunanda was married to Ramanjaneyalu, an operation manager with a multinational bank, four years ago. The couple have two children, aged four and one-and-half-years. Soon after the marriage, Ramanjaneyalu allegedly started harassing Sunanda for more dowry and frequently quarrelled. The police have arrested Ramanjaneyalu.

Retired professor killed in mishap

»A retired professor from Kerala was killed on the spot when a speeding car hit him while he was crossing the Bangalore-Bellary Road near Venkatala, Hebbal on Saturday. The deceased Cherian (65), was a resident of Kendriya Vihar Apartment located close to the accident spot. The driver of the Meru City taxi, whose car hit the victim, has been arrested.

Assamese student commits suicide

»An Assamese student committed suicide by hanging herself at her paying guest room in Balaji Nagar on Friday night. Police said the deceased Ithri (20)  was a student of BA III (Psychology) at Christ University. Failure in love might be the reason for her extreme step, they added.

Chain worth Rs 70,000 snatched

»Two unidentified bikers snatched a gold chain worth Rs 70,000 from a woman when she was going for a morning walk in Chamarajpet on Saturday.

Held for selling cylinders

»Madivala Police on Thursday arrested nine persons for selling stolen gas cylinders, and recovered 124 cylinders, Rs 12 lakh in cash, and equipment for refilling gas cylinders. The accused are Muzammil (19), Nooruddin (19), Mohammad Haneef (23), Saddam Hussain (19), residents of Tilaknagar; Shivraj, Quddoos, Muttaraj, Tabrez,l residents of Kanakapura taluk; Aman (22) of Hongasandra.
