<p>A housewife was robbed of her gold jewellery by two men dressed as policemen and their accomplice in Dwarka of south-west Delhi.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Kavita Juneja, 43, of Jhelum Apartment in Dwarka sector 5 was going towards a nearby market when the incident took place on Thursday around 12:15 pm.<br /><br />In her statement to police, she claimed that she was walking on the road between Mother Apartment and Palam Apartment when she was stopped by two assailants.<br /><br />“They, dressed as policemen, were standing by a motorcycle and advised Kavita that she must avoid wearing gold jewellery while walking on the road. They also told her that there was a sharp rise in snatching cases and she should be concerned,” a police official said.<br /><br />They also narrated her an incident of snatching at Rajapuri which they claimed was reported to them on Wednesday. Thereafter, they stopped a man who was wearing a gold chain and told him to keep the chain in his pocket.<br /><br />“The three men then asked the woman to take off her jewellery and told her that she must keep it in her purse,” the official added.<br /><br />Kavita then took off her jewellery — four bangles and two rings — and the three men helped her wrap it in a paper. They then left the spot on the motorcycle which made Kavita suspicious.<br /><br />“She then checked the wrapped paper and was shocked to see that it contained two plastic bangles,” the official said.<br /><br />Realising that she had been duped, Kavita raised an alarm, but the assailants managed to escape. She then approached Dwarka South police station and a case of cheating was lodged.</p>
